The World Airport Awards were recently awarded by Skytrax to the 10 airports elected through a survey of more than 12 million passengers from 110 nationalities.

Thus, the Skytrax ranking is presented as follows:

1. Doha Hamad International Airport

Doha's Hamad International Airport is once again the world's best airport, after dethroning Singapore's Changi Airport for the top title in 2021. Hamad is the main gateway to Qatar after replacing the country's old airport in 2014.
The airport is home to several amenities and vendors, as well as a convenient passenger train that easily shuttles travelers to the terminals. Qatar Airways is the main airline based at Hamad. 

2. Tokyo-Haneda International Airport

Tokyo International Airport, commonly known as Haneda Airport, is once again the second best airport in the world. The airport is the busier of the two airports serving Tokyo, having been limited to domestic and regional flights for many years. However, international flights were launched in 2010, and the airport is a convenient option for passengers visiting Tokyo.
The airport won several other awards this year, including World's Cleanest Airport, World's Best Domestic Airport, Best Accessible Facilities and Best Airport in Asia. Haneda is home to Air Do, Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Skymark Airlines and Skynet Asia Airways.

3. Singapore-Changi International Airport

After losing its crown in 2021, Singapore's Changi Airport has been named the third best airport in the world for 2022. The airport won the top title from 2013 to 2020, but was beaten by Doha's Hamad International Airport last year.Although it once again fell short, the airport still won several awards this year, including Best Airport Staff in the World and Asia, Best Airport Restaurant and Best Airport for Two to Five Million Passengers. Changi has several facilities, such as a swimming pool and a cinema, and hosts Singapore Airlines, Jetstar Asia Airways, Scoot and SilkAir.

4. Tokyo-Narita International Airport

Japan's Narita International Airport remained in the top five this year, ranking fourth. The airport is the city's second largest and one of the major international gateways to the Greater Tokyo area. Narita was named the best airport for five to ten million passengers and serves as a hub for Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Jetstar Japan, Nippon Cargo Airlines, Peach, Spring Airlines Japan and ZIPAIR Tokyo.

5.  Séoul-Incheon International Aéroport

Incheon International Airport in South Korea rounds out the top 5 airports in the world. The airport is a major international gateway and hosts several carriers, including Air Busan, Air Incheon, Air Seoul, Asiana Airlines, Eastar Jet, FedEx Express, Jeju Air, Jin Air, Korean Air, Polar Air Cargo and T'way Air. Incheon is also a flagship city for Thai Airways, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines.

6. Paris CDG International Airport

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport jumped nine places from 15th in 2021 to 6th in 2022. The airport, which is one of the busiest in the world, has also been named the best airport in Europe and the best airport in Western Europe. Charles de Gaulle is home to Air France, Air France Cargo and FedEx Express.

7. Munich International Airport

Munich Airport remained in the top 10 this year, dropping only one spot from 2021. The airport won several other awards, including Best Central European Airport, Best Airport with 10-15 million passengers and Best Airport Hotel. Munich is one of the busiest airports in Germany in terms of passenger traffic and serves as a hub for Lufthansa and Lufthansa CityLine.

8. Istanbul International Airport

Located on the European side of Turkey, Istanbul Airport jumped nine places from number 17 in 2021 to number 8 in 2022. The airport hub is new, officially opening in April 2019 and becoming the city's main international gateway. Istanbul Airport is still expanding and by 2025 is expected to become the world's largest airport in terms of passenger traffic, with the capacity to handle 200 million travelers per year, according to the airport.
Istanbul is home to Turkish Airlines and has won several other awards, including best airport for families, best airport for shopping, best airport in Southern Europe and best airport handling 30 to 40 million passengers.

 9. Zurich Kloten International Airport

Zurich Airport retained its place in the top 10 this year, but dropped two spots from seventh place in 2021. The airport is one of the busiest airports in Switzerland, serving as a hub for Edelweiss Air and Swiss International Airlines. Zurich won a handful of additional awards, including best airport for security handling and cleanest airport in Europe.

10. Kansai International Airport

Kansai International Airport, which is the main gateway to the Osaka region of Japan, rounds out the top 10 best airports. In addition to making the top 10, Kansai won two other awards, including Best Low-Cost Terminal and Best Airport for Baggage Delivery. All Nippon Airways, FedEx Express, Japan Airlines, Jetstar Japan, Nippon Cargo Airlines and Peach are all based in Kansai.
